  • Added game option to disable automated workers from removing features.
  • If it’s as a result of combat, then the beginning of the next turn.
  • Promotions must be selected the turn they are earned.

    Most (but not all) units now have a full upgrade path from start to finish. Multiple unit upgrade track adjustments.Removed maintenance from defensive buildings.Lowered bonuses received from Maritime city-states.Melee horse units combat value lowered, and now receive a penalty when attacking cities.Amount of damage caused during naval combat increased.Science building track adjustments (cost, specialist slots, GP Points, etc).Worker priority adjustments (prioritize pillaged tiles, etc.).Improve AI use of protected bombard attacks (melee in front, ranged in the rear).Never use ranged units to provide flanking bonuses.Most interesting changes are that unit promotions and new civic choices can't be delayed anymore, maritime city states bonus has been decreased and an option to stop automated workers from removing existing features. With AI, the company has a history of improving its computer players’ skills over time it’s hard to fully teach the AI the game while still building it, so it’s not like Firaxis had years before release to perfect the AI. Luckily, the AI and diplomacy issues are just the sort of thing that Firaxis can fix over time. But the game is by no means perfect-it isn’t very geographically diverse, the AI is quite weak, and diplomacy still feels harder to control than it did in Civilization IV (although it’s a big improvement over Civ V). And, pretty much across the board, it improves on the core systems of Civilization V and added a bunch of cool new ones along the way. Civilization 6 is a grand strategy game crossed with a tabletop board game, which is a very cool thing.
